Carl Rutherford has joined the sound and communication systems specialist as project manager, while Lucy Jenkins (pictured) will be working in the hire department.
Rutherford brings extensive theatre experience to his new post as project manager, with a list of career credits that includes the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, and general manager of the National Youth Music Theatre. As part of Orbital’s project management team, he will be responsible for managing a wide portfolio across the spectrum of entertainment industry events.
“Orbital’s reputation is based on being able to translate the challenging mix of client requirements, locations and timescales into focused, well co-ordinated implementations,” said Luke Hyde, director of theatrical operations at Orbital. “We are delighted to welcome Carl on board as a valued team member, capable of delivering the first-rate planning and integration skills needed to ensure the smooth running of our often complex projects.”
Jenkins, meanwhile, will be working with rental manager Phil Dormer in Orbital’s hire department, focusing on expanding the rental desk as well as easiHire, the recently-launched online service. Jenkins was previously technician and assistant stage manager at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, having graduated from the Guildford School of Acting.
