NewBay Media Europe reveals new management team

NewBay Europe has recruited a team of experienced professionals to lead its event, sales and content teams.

The expanding portfolio of leading events, marketing services, and digital capabilities at NewBay Media Europe, publisher of Installation, have been enthusiastically embraced by its communities and partners. To facilitate further growth and increase partner and audience engagement, NewBay has announced the hiring of Caroline Hicks as event director, Mark Rankine as sales director, Andrew Wooden as Interactive Entertainment content director, and James McKeown as Business Entertainment content director.

“Our key objectives at NewBay Media Europe are to connect our communities, deliver timely and valued content, and provide our partners efficient and effective solutions to their marketing needs,” states Mark Burton, NewBay Media Europe’s managing director. “This team of experts provides us additional capabilities to deliver upon these goals and further develop our events, digital, and marketing services capabilities.”

Caroline Hicks has joined the business as events director. Caroline is currently head of TV Connect Global Events at Informa Telecoms and Media, where she has overall responsibility for sales, marketing, operations, and conference production for 12 annual events taking place in the USA, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, and Africa, including the flagship UK event, TV Connect, which attracts over 250 exhibitors, 7,000 visitors and 350 delegates.

Prior to this, Hicks was conference manager and head of research for Informa’s VSAT & Wireless Events. She will be joining the business on Monday 23 November.

Meanwhile, NewBay Media Europe has named Mark Rankine as sales director. Mark is currently advertising sales director at Time Inc UK, where he has overall responsibility for the commercial strategy of the Photography and Technology division.

Prior to his recent position at Time Inc, Mark was advertising sales director at Future Publishing. Earlier experience includes Account Manager and Sales Manager positions at Incisive Media and Highbury Entertainment. Mark will be joining the business on Monday 26 October.

Andrew Wooden has been appointed into the position of Interactive Entertainment content director. Andrew joined in 2005 as a Staff Writer on MCV and since then has worked on a number of brands, including BikeBiz, Future’s T3, and most recently as publisher of PCR.

In this new role Andrew will be responsible for reviewing audience needs across games, technology, toys and bikes, supporting the current editorial teams and working with the Sales Director and Events Director to shape the strategic vision for each brand.

Finally, James McKeown has been appointed into the position of Business Entertainment content director. James joined NewBay in April 2014 as Executive Editor on TVBE. Similar to Andrew but catering for different audiences, James will be responsible for reviewing audience needs across broadcast, AV, pro audio, and MI and making sure the company continues to deliver the best possible content.

Andrew, James, Mark and Caroline will report into NewBay Media Europe MD Mark Burton.

“I think this is a really exciting time for NewBay Media Europe,” said Burton. “We want to provide the best possible service to our customers and with our talented existing team and some new perspectives I am confident we will be able to achieve that goal.”
