Member companies will have access to tools and documentation to help facilitate the development of compliant products, and will also have the right to use the ONVIF logo. Comprehensive information can be located on the ONVIF website (link below).
The ONVIF standard defines plug & watch systems and will include device management, real-time viewing, Pan/Tilt/Zoom control, metadata streaming, and configuration and event handling.
Having showcased the forum at Security 2008 in Germany last week, the forum is now planning an inaugural meeting for members and interested parties, to take place at the beginning of December.
Jonas Andersson, business development director at Axis Communications, told II: “ONVIF’s aim is to develop network layer standards. These standards will enable communications interoperability between networked cameras, video encoders, video management systems and other networked security systems, regardless of manufacturer.”
