NEC projectors feature ‘world firsts’

Among the many new products announced by NEC at ISE, three new projector ranges are capturing attention. The new PA, PX and PH series cover all the bases, according to NEC product line manager for large venue projectors, Gerd Kaiser. “By offering 3LCD, 1-chip DLP and 3-chip DLP, we’re offering customers the opportunity to choose the right technology for the application.”

The PA series, which is based on 3LCD technology, is designed for fixed installations in corporate and educational environments and is, according to Kaiser, the first projector family to feature DisplayPort 35 technology. Three models are available: the PA600X XGA resolution 6,000 lumen projector; the PA 55W WXGA 5,500 lumen projector, and the PA5090U WUXGA 5,000 lumen projector.

Based on 1-chip DLP technology are the PX series, which comprises two models offering XGA/8,000 lumens and WXGA/7,000 lumens. These also feature a world first, says Kaiser, in that they include support for Intel’s OPS modules, which allow projectors to be easily adapted with functionality such as an HDSDI board, DVI board, media player or built-in PC. The projectors are shipped with a 4-colour wheel fitted – but a 6-colour, user installable, colour wheel is also provided.

The PH series features 3-chip DLP technology to deliver, according to Kaiser, the image quality for which that technology is renowned. Light output is close to 11,000 lumens, and the projector uses the same lenses as those featured by NEC’s digital cinema projector.
