NEC gets DCI compliance

Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) Compliance is required for any product to be considered for a commercial digital cinema installation. NEC's NC3240S has passed the necessary tests.

NEC Display Solutions has announced that its NC3240S digital cinema projector has reached full Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) Compliance for usage with 2K legacy third party servers. The new projector offers 31,000 lumens of brightness with 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution and 3D capabilities for the largest cinema screen sizes of up to 105-feet wide.

The test was completed by the Research Institute for Digital Media and Content at Keio University (DMC) in Japan, which is one of two entities licensed by Digital Cinema Initiatives, to perform the Compliance Test Plan (CTP) tests.

“Introducing DCI compliance to this 4K model is a significant achievement,” said Pierre Richer, President and COO of NEC Display Solutions. “The full line of NEC digital cinema projectors, including the NC1200C, NC2000C and NC3200S models, offers this certification, which is mandatory for exhibitors utilizing digital technology. Compatibility with the demanding industry requirements is something on which NEC prides itself. Our ability to provide customers with exactly what is needed for current installations is crucial to our success.”
