Music Group acquires Turbosound

Music Group has toady announced the expansion of its professional audio offering with the procurement of Turbosound.

Music Group has today announced the purchase of professional loudspeaker manufacturer Turbosound, with CEO Uli Behringer promising to “invest heavily in positioning Turbosound.”

The move comes following long-term speculation about Music Group’s interest in adding a professional loudspeaker brand to its offering. Turbosound will now join Midas and Klark Teknik, which were both purchased by the holding company in December 2009. Italian audio group Proel originally bought Turbosound in 2007, but arguably have not developed the brand as many would have expected. Under its new owner, the brand is expected to benefit from Music Group’s extensive infrastructure, while still retaining its own manufacturing, sales, marketing and distribution network worldwide. Turbosound md Simon Blackwood commented: “With the incredible people and resources of the Music Group behind us, I am thrilled to enter a new era of unprecedented growth.”

Uli Behringer stated: “We will invest heavily in positioning Turbosound at the very pinnacle of the industry, as we have done with Midas and Klark Teknik, where we have financed over $20 million in new automated manufacturing, quality control systems and engineering resources, including a new Centre of Engineering Excellence in Manchester, UK”.
