UK distributor Midwich has signed a supply deal with BenQ. Initially dealing with BenQ’s range of projectors, the deal will see Midwich supplying all models in the range, including the BlueCore Laser light engine. Billed as the ‘Next Generation Light Engine’, the BenQ LX60ST and LW61ST are said to be the first short-throw education projectors in the world to incorporate BlueCore laser technology, with a contrast ratio of 80,000:1 and 20,000 hours of lamp life being just two of the benefits.
“We are delighted to be working with BenQ and we look forward to a thriving and successful partnership,” said Midwich business manager Stuart Mizon. “BenQ have an established reputation for bringing quality, innovative projectors to the market and their forward-thinking philosophy sits well with Midwich’s own ethos. Their BlueCore Laser range is a perfect example of pushing the boundaries of today’s technology and its short-throw capabilities make it an ideal choice for schools and education establishments.”
MidwichHome, the group’s consumer division, will also have exclusivity on BenQ’s home cinema solutions.
“We feel that the combination of BenQ’s product line up and their move towards a specialist channel positions them perfectly to fit into our portfolio and strategy,” said Midwich AV director, Darren Lewitt. “Midwich’s strength in selling both entry level, education, corporate and install solutions will certainly benefit BenQ.”
“It’s an exciting opportunity with ideal timing for BenQ to be partnering with the UK’s leading AV distributor,” said BenQ’s UK sales and marketing director Royce Lye. “Midwich’s position complements our aspirations for continuing the development of Europe’s second largest projector brand within the UK. Our award winning projectors, combined with strong sales channel strategies and excellent service back-up is a close fit to Midwich’s own strengths.”
