MEDIA BROADCAST announces FIFA video contribution deal

Billed as an informal two-day event providing an opportunity “to find solutions and discover what’s new for 2009”, PLASA Focus Leeds featured more than 100 stands. Exhibitors encompassed the full spectrum of pro-AV technology and included Allen & Heath, Alcons Audio, Avolites, Christie, Clay Paky, Fuzion, GE Lighting, KV2 Audio, LOUD Technologies, Martin Professional, Neutrik and Robe.

In addition to the visitor total relayed at the top of this story, the unaudited statistics indicate that almost 70% of visitors came from the north of England – a development that, says PLASA, demonstrates the event’s “truly regional emphasis”.

The Leeds gathering also incorporated an extensive programme of free seminars, with BS8901 for sustainable event management and business issues faced by freelancers among the topics under discussion. In total, 415 visitors attended eight sessions across the two days.

“We are thrilled with the results from PLASA Focus and the incredibly positive feedback we’ve received so far,” PLASA events manager Sophie Atkinson told II.

The Leeds event has already been confirmed to take place again at The Royal Armouries in 2010 (on 27-28 April), while the Focus format may also be applied to other regional gatherings.

“Now we know that this format works, and is matching the needs of the industry, we will be exploring other regional opportunities and will remain in consultation with the PLASA membership and existing exhibitors to ensure we continue to produce events that the industry genuinely wants and needs,” said Atkinson.
