A THX Select II certified, 7.1 home cinema receiver with HDMI 1.3a outputs, the Marantz SR8002 receiver has an auto set-up system and is said to benefit from ‘exceptional multi-room ability’.
The SR8002 decodes Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, and DTS Master Audio lossless audio formats. Its seven channels are rated at 125W each, while phase shift is said to be very low. Formats such as Super Audio CD may benefit from such audiophile attention to detail but Marantz has also included its newly-developed M-DAX (Marantz Dynamic Audio expander) circuit in an attept to extract the bect from compressed formats such as MP3.
The Audyssey MultEQ system is an integral part of the product, allowing to user to optimise the system in an estimated 15 minutes. In addition to the pre-coded, backlit LCD remote, the SR8002 package includes a single ‘optimised for multi-room usage’, RC101 ‘sub’ remote for sound and vision – and the receiver can drive audio-only in a third room.
