The lighting giant has opened a new London office, while MD Tony Browne is to depart at the end of the year, writes David Davies. These and other changes were announced by Martin Professional plc, which declares itself to be approaching the new year as “a streamlined yet effective and highly efficient organisation”.
The relocation of Martin Pro UK from Maidstone to London in order to be closer to LDs, architects and specifiers forms part of Martin’s ongoing European restructuring. The new office is situated close to London Bridge Underground Station in Bermondsey; full contact details can be found on the Martin UK website (first link below).
Simultaneously, Martin Pro UK has announced the relocation of its Service and Technical Support function to Louth (home of sister organisation Jem Smoke). The team is being supervised by Jonathan Hatt.
The company has also created a project sales team focusing on fixed installations in the architectural market and overseen by Peter Western and new recruit Richard Padun. The six-strong entertainment sales team remains unchanged.
Meanwhile, in what is described as “a consequence of the new structure”, Tony Browne is to leave the company at the end of the year having overseen Martin’s UK subsidiary since 2007. Martin UK staff will thereafter refer to the company’s European sales management in Denmark.
Reflecting on Browne’s contribution to the company, Martin vice president EMEA Villads Thomsen told II that he had “expanded our strong position in the UK entertainment market as well as strengthened our dealer network. He has also been responsible for the continued development of our in-house competences, especially in the project market, and overall has streamlined the organisation. Tony’s staff have had the greatest respect for him throughout his tenure.”
Other changes include the centralisation of Martin UK customer care and marketing services at Martin’s Danish HQ, and the recent launch of a new B2B e-commerce platform (third link below).
