IVC Media rings the changes

The UK-based systems integrator with clients across the EMEA region has announced a new-look managerial team, writes David Davies. Under the change, sales director John Smith becomes MD, while his predecessor in that role steps up to the role of chairman. In addition, the company is establishing Operations, Commercial and Sales divisions to allow its services “to be tailored even more closely to customer requirements”.

Established in 1993, IVC Media’s reach and influence has grown steadily in the ensuing 17 years. Its customer base includes high-profile public and private sector clients, including the BBC, BSkyB, Guardian News and Media, the National Film and Television School and the Natural History Museum.

John Smith puts the changes in the context of a “clear strategy” for the company and ongoing technological evolution. “There have been some remarkable developments in converged technology being delivered over IP networks in recent years,” he said. “IVC is now able to bring these advances to the market by developing tailored systems using best-of-breed solutions that demonstrate a real return on investment by creating new and additional revenue streams for clients.

“It may be as simple as third party advertising off-setting the cost of digital signage, for example, or a full state-of-the-art, point-to-multipoint, GPON fibre network that has the capability of charging our clients’ individual customers for VOD or telephony usage at multi-premises sites… IVC’s vast knowledge in this area will help guide companies to create their vision by supplying and installing tailored, workable, future-proofed infrastructures using the latest proven technology.”

Reflecting on a significant recent project for IVC Media, Smith told IE that the company has designed and is installing a “technology refresh” at the National Assembly for Wales. He commented: “The project includes 230 custom-designed touch panel screens, fitted to the seats within the public gallery, linked with a full IPTV system which incorporates a bespoke signage solution and content management playout, allowing the public to interact directly with information provided by the National Assembly. This project demonstrates IVC Media’s ability to integrate AV and IT across common networks.”
