Interview – Rachel Archibald, Meyer Sound

Rachel Archibald from Meyer Sound discusses the company's plans for ISE 2011 - including an involvement with the AVnu Alliance panel discussion - and the outlook for the EMEA region.

Rachel Archibald, director of marketing – Meyer Sound, discusses the company’s involvement with the ISE show and the development of the AVnu Alliance.

Q: What is AVnu Alliance’s involvement in ISE 2011?

A: Following the inaugural AVnu Alliance panel discussion at ISE 2010, the Alliance has since gained much momentum in advancing the AVB audio/video bridging networking standards and its membership has grown to more than 25 companies. As the IEEE AVB standards are being ratified, we continue to see more system designs implemented with AVB networks, which is the focus of this year’s AVnu Alliance panel discussion [taking place in the ISE Theatre, Hall 10, 1 Feb, 16:00].

Meyer Sound’s new D-Mitri digital audio platform and CAL column array loudspeakers are AVB-capable. Both AVB and D-Mitri are nominated for InAVation Awards this year, and we look forward to hearing the results!

Q: How do you see the ISE market faring in the EMEA region in 2011?

A: There are a lot of exciting technology advancements that are raising the bar of AV experiences across all territories. They range from HD video technology offering bigger and brighter images, to extremely high-resolution audio delivery that continues to change the role of sound in today’s complex integrated systems. 2011 is a very exciting year for the market.

Q: What do you think will be the key external factors affecting the market this year?

A: The push for more environmentally-friendly AV products as well as the demand by both performing arts groups and audiences for more high-quality entertainment delivery like high-resolution concert simulcasts. We are already seeing some very creative technology applications to bring live concert experiences to broader audiences [in] real-time.

Q: Outside your organisation’s offering, what do you think will be the ‘star’ technologies of 2011?

A: New technologies like AVB are giving AV professionals the tools they need to provide a whole new level of integrated, high-definition experiences in more unexpected places.
