Installation is pleased to announce the names of the first two panellists at its Installation Showcase: Entertainment event, which takes place at BAFTA in London on 5 November.

Alongside the case study presentations at Installation Showcase: Entertainment at BAFTA on 5 November will be a panel session entitled ‘Trends in venue design and operation – how do they affect the integrator?’ Leading experts in venue technology will be contributing their knowledge and experience to address this multifaceted question.

Ian Stickland is a senior consultant with Charcoalblue, which is a specialist UK theatre consultancy. He has a degree in Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) from the University of Surrey and a diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control from the Institute of Acoustics. His expertise includes sound reinforcement and recording, cinema systems, theatrical lighting and technical management.

Sam Wise has 25 years’ experience as a theatre consultant working with industry-leading practices, but he has another 15 years’ experience before that. This includes working in technical roles in London’s West End, then as a recording engineer and sound effects artist, product designer, contractor, and managing director of a manufacturing company. He spent many years at Arup, but left earlier this year to set up his own consultancy, Venue Strategies.

“I’m very pleased to have these experts in venue technology on the panel at Installation Showcase: Entertainment,” said Paddy Baker, editor of Installation. “There are a number of trends that this session can discuss, such as mixed uses – even holding different types of events on the same evening –the multiplicity of choices of networking protocols, and how best to accommodate touring kit. Delegates are assured of an informed and lively session.”

Early-bird tickets for Installation Showcase are available at £49.
