Innovative new QSC system at ISE

Following its much-discussed presentation at The NAMM Show earlier this month, QSC’s groundbreaking fixed arcuate, active line array system, the KLA Series, will be on display at ISE early next month.

QSC’s groundbreaking fixed arcuate, active line array system, the KLA Series, will be on display at the Amsterdam RAI early next month.

The innovative new development will be showcased at ISE on the stand of QSC distributor Shure Distribution GmbH.

Built on the same power platform as the K Series and KW Series powered loudspeakers, KLA is suitable for a wide range of portable and permanently installed applications, including HoWs and entertainment venues.

“Ease-of-use in terms of deployment and system tuning were the key elements driving the KLA design,” said Phil Sanchez, product manager at QSC. “As a complete systems provider, we are determined to offer our customers real-world, practical solutions that meet their needs for a variety of applications. The current state of line arrays is that they are inherently expensive and require considerable effort to deploy. In offering the KLA solution, we’ve managed to bring to market a product that is both attractively priced and fast to implement. This arrangement makes line array technology more accessible to a larger customer segment and will serve as practical audio solution for many more users than ever before possible.”

The KLA Series comprises two models: the KLA12 12-inch two-way line array element and the KLA181 18-inch subwoofer enclosure. Both models feature a 1,000 Watt (continuous) Class-D power module and include QSC’s proprietary Intrinsic Correction, first introduced with the QSC WideLine Series, for optimal acoustical performance across the entire sound field.

Another new feature found specifically on the KLA12 is Ar-Q (Arcuate Equalization) frequency optimisation, which allows the user to select the total number of boxes deployed in the array. In response, the Ar-Q system makes the appropriate frequency compensation adjustments resulting in an evenly balanced and accurate tonal curve.

As a fixed arcuate array, each box is set at an 18˚ splay angle, allowing 90˚ arrays to be configured using only five boxes rather than the six typically found in competing products.

Other features of the new series include the use of QSC’s DEEP DSP algorithm for extended bass response, and GuardRail circuitry protection to prevent the amplifier module from unnatural and destructive clipping.

Fully supported in EASE and EASE Focus, the KLA Series will be offered in both black and white finishes and is slated for availability in early spring.
