InfoComm increases certification and standards activities

Taking place on March 20th at the Taj Land’s End Hotel in Mumbai (pictured), the one-day Screen Media India event – comprising keynote presentations, themed sessions and panel discussions – will feature input from, among many others, BroadSign International CSO Brian Dusho and Datamatics’ founder and chairman, Dr L.S. Kanodia.

Morning keynote presentations will be delivered by Chetan Madaya, chief executive officer (CEO) and group chief strategy officer (CSO) for Laqshya Digital Media; Brian Dusho, CSO for BroadSign International; and Dr L.S. Kanodia, founder and chairman of Datamatics. Kanodia is set to discuss the country’s significant IT sector with a view to exploring the challenges and opportunities likely to be mirrored in the developing screen media market.

The afternoon session, meanwhile, will feature two distinct topics. The ‘Applied Knowledge Track’ will feature Chris Frampton, director – international business development and marketing for Dynamax Technologies; Andrew McCall, managing director for ROI Team; and Rajesh Jog, founder of Waygate Capital. The ‘Thought Leadership Track’ will examine the advertising perspective of screen media and feature Lynn de Souza, director of media services for Lintas Media Group; Pranesh Misra, global director of marketing accountability for Lowe & Partners Worldwide; and Kamal Oberoi, chairman and managing director for M&C Saatchi. Ritesh Gupta (TV Asia/Asia Image and Screens.tv) and Rajan Mehta (founder of LiveMedia P.R. SATHEESH and COO for Tag Media) will also contribute.

In addition, Kevin B. Howard (ICG), Eli Sasson (Minicom Advanced Systems) and Prabhu Venkatesh (3M India) will provide the technology suppliers’ perspective.

The event will conclude with a panel session, chaired by Screens.tv editor Barnaby Page, that examines the key points of the conference and identifies the underlying future trends in India’s screen media sector.

“We are pleased with the reception that our conference is getting in India with significant interest from the new media, marketing and advertising community, as well as technology suppliers, renowned IT industry gurus and the regional press,” commented Mark Pigou, director, Screen Events Ltd. “Mumbai is the place for end users to discover just how their organisations can benefit from the exciting and rapidly expanding world of screen media.”

Elsewhere, Pigou confirmed to II that the recent Screen Expo Europe event was significantly larger than the previous instalment. “Screen Expo Europe 2008 was 50% bigger than 2007 with over 100 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors, 44% from overseas,” he said. “Feedback on the quality and quantity of attendees has been outstanding. The show welcomed over 30 new exhibitors, with many existing clients increasing their presence. The 15 nations represented at the show included Russia and India for the first time, demonstrating that the market is maturing and the scope for digital signage and media networks across a broad range of vertical markets is really taking hold.”
