InfoComm International is to present a seminar on Building Information Modelling (BIM) at the forthcoming LLB tradeshow in Stockholm, Sweden.
The seminar, titled ‘BIM: An Introduction to Building Information Modelling and its impact on the AV Community’, will be given by Scott Wills, CTS-I, CTS-D, InfoComm’s Director of International Education. Wills will be hosting the talk on two separate occasions: from 2.00 to 3.00pm on Wednesday 18 May, and on Thursday 19 May from 12.00 to 1.00pm.
“The increasingly widespread use of BIM in the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings has the potential to fundamentally alter the fabric of the audiovisual design and integration business,” comments Wills. “BIM allows designers to view their building and its contents from any angle, revealing potential problems at early stages to allow correction before integration.
“It follows, therefore, that any equipment to be included in a project that uses BIM must have BIM data developed by the manufacturer and available to the design team. By covering the basics of BIM and outlining available resources that offer more information, this session gives audiences an idea of just how important this technology will prove to be, and what steps they can take to update their business practices in line with BIM developments.”
BIM was a topic at InfoComm’s Future Trends Summit at ISE 2011 in Amsterdam earlier this year, but this will be the first time the subject is discussed under InfoComm’s auspices on Scandinavian soil. The cost of attending the seminar is a nominal 250 SEK.
Established in 1991, LLB is the leading Nordic tradeshow for the audio, video, lighting and multimedia sector. Held every two years, it attracts around 100 exhibitors and some 6,000 attendees, and hosts a diverse seminar programme. This year’s show runs from 18-20 May and will be held at the Stockholmsmässan convention centre in the Swedish capital.
