IE, PSNE announce new AV networking conference

The new technology and business event, AVNetworks 2010, will take place during the PLASA Show on 15 September.

The new technology and business event, AVNetworks 2010, will take place during the PLASA Show on 15 September. The one-day event will throw light on various issues pertaining to networking technologies and protocols, including how to make the best use of today’s standards and likely future developments.

The new conference is aimed at AV installers, sound engineers, technical officers, rental companies, executives and consultants, plus anyone with an interest in the technology and business of AV networking.

To be held in the prestigious Earls Court Conference Centre, AVNetworks 2010 will be chaired by highly respected AV industry consultant and commentator Roland Hemming (pictured), and will take a multi-faceted approach to the subject with contributions from manufacturers, consultants, installers and rental companies.

AVNetworks 2010 is being produced jointly by UBM publications Installation Europe and Pro Sound News Europe. Hemming is working closely with both brands to put together a compelling group of speakers and panels, although it can be revealed now that topics will include manufacturer’s approaches to networking, control and integration capabilities, video networking, integration with IT and building automation, and end-users’ expectations for AV networks.

“2011 will be a pivotal year in the development of the next generation of truly integrated audio systems,” said Hemming. “We need to understand how other industries have solved the problems we still have and what our clients actually want us to deliver. This conference gives a perfect opportunity to learn, discuss and collaborate.”

AVNetworks 2010 is supported by PLASA and will take place on the final day of the four-day show. Anyone booking tickets to the AVNetworks 2010 conference will also be given free VIP entry to PLASA 2010 for all four days of the event.

“We are delighted that Pro Sound News Europe and Installation Europe have chosen to co-locate their brand new conference alongside PLASA 2010,” said Nicola Rowland, director of events, PLASA. “Bringing key players from the audio, AV and networking industries together within the PLASA Show dateline to debate a range of important networking and protocol issues will be fundamental in shaping the future of the audio industry.”

Dave Robinson, editor of Pro Sound News Europe, observed: “There are many technologies and protocols out there – A-Net, AES50, Dante, EtherSound, HiQnet, Optocore and RockNet to name a handful in the audio domain – and we’re going to be exploring the strengths and opportunities these different systems represent. And, of course, we’ll be tackling the rapidly developing AVB standard and what it’s going to mean for the future of live events, the installation business and content delivery.”

Final word (for now) to IE editor Paddy Baker: “This conference offers an unrivalled opportunity for delegates to debate the issues – both technology- and business-related – surrounding networking, and to learn from some of the biggest names in the industry.”
