Home Technology Event 2012 cancelled

This year’s Home Technology Event, which was to be held at London’s ExCel from May 29-31 2012, has been cancelled due to insufficient industry support from suppliers.

This year’s Home Technology Event, which was to be held at London’s ExCel from May 29-31 2012, has been cancelled due to insufficient industry support from suppliers.

CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) has ‘heavily’ subsidised the show since 2009 but has been unable to generate the much needed backing from the majority of suppliers within the custom installation sector this year.

“We have decided that it is not in the best interests of its stakeholders to host the show. With time running short, we have consulted with our organising partners for the show, Upper Street Events, and, regrettably, have agreed to cancel the show for 2012,” said Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA Region 1’s executive director.

In 2011 the show, organised by Upper Street Events for the first time, attracted 5,559 attendees – experiencing a 7% growth on the previous year. Despite featuring over 250 brands from the CI industry last year, exhibitors have failed to sign up the numbers to make the show viable for 2012.
