Hitachi adds Steljes, parts from Maverick, Anders & Kern

Hitachi has made changes to its distribution arrangements in the UK, adding Steljes to Medium, Midwich and Sahara but ending its relationship with Maverick and Anders & Kern.

Hitachi has announced the addition of Steljes to its stable of distribution partners who will join Medium UK, Midwich and Sahara in distributing the Hitachi business-to-business products.

“Hitachi has ambitions to be the number one LCD projector manufacturer in the UK market and we felt to achieve this we needed to make these changes,” said Ioan Williams, UK B2B Sales Manager (pictured). “With Steljes being the exclusive distributor of SMART, it makes sense to align Hitachi’s market leading education projectors with the market leading interactive whiteboard brand.”

Williams expects Steljes, with its strength in education and corporate markets, to bring the incremental business that Hitachi is looking for in the UK. With Hitachi’s launch of its new range of “Ultimate” Ultra Short throw projectors, the company says it feels it is an ideal time to initiate a new partnership with Steljes.

Concurrently, Hitachi announced the consolidation of its distribution partners in the UK. Both Maverick (Computer 2000) and Anders and Kern will no longer distribute Hitachi projectors from 1 December 2010.

Hitachi said that it would like to thank Maverick and Anders and Kern for their support in the past and wished them success for the future.

“Maverick and Hitachi have come to the mutual decision that their strategies have diverged,” said Sid Stanley, general manager at Maverick. “Whilst Maverick is disappointed to see the end of a vendor partnership that has lasted many years, we recognise that we cannot offer Hitachi what it requires without compromising other vendor commitments. We wish Hitachi good luck in the future.”
