Digital signage is set to play a greater role in the future of Harris with the news that the company’s Broadcast Communications division has introduced a dedicated team to spearhead its further development in this sector.

Presided over by director of marketing – EMEA Ian Collis – the new team will seek to spread the word about a product portfolio that includes content management/scheduling system InfoCaster and advertising/sales management tool Punctuate.

“We are making a big push on digital signage and expect it to be one of our most important growth businesses during the next 3-5 years,” said Collis.

In expanding its presence, Collis believes that the company will be greatly assisted by its extensive broadcast industry credentials and “50 years’ experience of the mission-critical delivery of content”.

By way of example, Collis points to a recent installation that saw the deployment of a substantial Harris digital OOH solution – including InfoCaster Creator content creation stations, InfoCaster Manager network management products and InfoCaster Player content playout devices – at 110 stores operated by sports retailer Stadium in Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

In other ISE news, Harris has announced new software features for InfoCaster, including enhanced support for media playout over IPTV and mobile DTV delivery platforms, as well as further enhancements to Punctuate.
