Greenwich naval college role for Proel EDGE25PWs

A Proel sound reinforcement system based around custom-painted EDGE25PWs has been installed at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London.

A Proel sound reinforcement system based around custom-painted EDGE25PWs has been installed at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London.

Designed by Sir Christopher Wren and his equally celebrated assistant, Nicholas Hawksmoor, the buildings now occupied by the Old Royal Naval College were originally constructed to serve as the Greenwich Hospital. Subsequently, the complex was turned into a naval college and, more recently, one of London’s most popular cultural and tourist destinations.

For a new audio install in the Painted Hall reception area, London Audio was invited to specify loudspeakers that could complement the detailed interior of the building. Ultimately, they opted for 15 custom-painted 100V constant voltage Proel EDGE25PWs, installed on specially-designed pedestals.

The new sound system’s first engagement was an event to mark the Battle of Trafalgar, which took place in 1805.

Site manager Ray Faithfull commented: “The event was rather successful and having such a powerful amplification system improved the sound of the hall and made it even more striking.”
