Gira exhibits KNX module for smoke alarms

The new KNX module for the Dual/VdS smoke alarm device from Gira enables the potentially life saving device to interconnect with areas of the house such as blinds and lighting to initiate counter measures when a fire is detected.

The new KNX module for the Dual/VdS smoke alarm device from Gira, which is being launched at this year’s ISE, integrates it into the KNX system. Using this module, fault messages from a smoke detector can be registered and their origins can be linked to specific rooms, enabling purposeful initial countermeasures to be launched.

In case of fire, blinds and shutters are then raised automatically and windows are opened. The front door is also unlocked and lights along the escape route are switched on. Additionally, current warnings are displayed on the Gira control panels.

Home occupants who are absent can also be alerted to the risk of fire by a phone call or text message if they wish.
According to Gira, error-free installation is more essential here than anywhere else. DIN 14676 requires the planning, installation, and maintenance of smoke alarm devices to be performed by ‘certified experts for smoke alarm devices’.
Gira says it offers the electrical trade the opportunity to gain the specialist knowledge required for this certification easily and conveniently with the new ‘Gira Smoke Alarm ‘.
