Epson closer to education

Epson launches its first range of ultra-short-throw projectors designed to meet the growing demand for easy-to-use ICT equipment in classrooms.

Epson launches its first range of ultra-short-throw projectors designed to meet the growing demand for easy-to-use ICT equipment in classrooms.

The new models are made for use with standard or interactive whiteboards, where the ultra-short-throw significantly reduces glare and shadow interference.

The Epson ultra-short-throw range consists of five projectors, two of which have inbuilt interactive capabilities and can turn any projection surface into an interactive one.

The Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi use an interactive pen to give the teacher control of the projection area. This allows notes and additions to be made and saved during a lesson.

“We know from our research that teachers find using technology in the classroom makes learning more interesting and relevant to children’s current lives,” said Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, senior business manager VI, Epson Europe. “It can increase engagement, resulting in higher enjoyment and can address the needs of different types of learners.”

For larger classrooms, a teacher can broadcast the lesson via an inbuilt 10W speaker. The range also includes Ethernet and optional wireless connectivity to allow teachers to deliver presentations over a network and effectively engage students in a large or small classroom.

Further products in the range include the Epson EB-460, the Epson EB-440W and the Epson EB-450W. These products offer the same functionality as the Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi without the inbuilt interactivity.
