New for ISE 2012 are additional touch technologies for some of is Elo TouchSystems’ most popular touchmonitor models. In addition, the zero-bezel design removes the frame found around standard monitors to create a seamless surface designed to showcase the wide-screen, high-definition experience that today’s consumers have come to expect, according to the company.
Elo says that zero-bezel projected capacitive (PCAP) touch technology gives a unique, aesthetically-pleasing seamless design resistant to water, impacts, scratches and other contaminants on the screen. With the Windows 7 operating system and compatible driver, multi-touch functionality is available.
Projected capacitive touch monitors are highly sensitive to a light touch with no known wear-out mechanism from repeated touches, says the company, which is an advantage for heavy, public usage applications.
iTouch touchscreen technology is claimed to be a step up from conventional surface acoustic wave touch technologies that delivers the same robust performance as the original IntelliTouch SAW technology in a zero-bezel format. With no moving parts to wear out, touch response is described as fast, accurate, and drift-free using a finger, gloved hand, or soft stylus. Pure glass construction allows high light transmission without compromising durability or functionality.
