An Electro-Voice sound system has been installed in the swimming pool facility constructed specifically for the next edition of the World Student Games, which will take place in 2013.
After the Olympics, the World Student Games (otherwise known as the Universiade) constitutes the largest multi-disciplinary sporting event anywhere in the world. The venue for the next instalment is Kazan, the capital of the autonomous Russian republic of Tatarstan – and preparations are already well underway.
For the specially-built swimming facility, Ruton S was enlisted to specify a high quality sound system that would be capable of handling reflections from hard surfaces and ensure intelligibility at all times.
“The budget was also relatively tight,” recalled Gregory Ronin, general manager of Ruton S, “though compromises in terms of quality were out of the question.”
The resulting system selected by Ruton S is entirely based around Electro-Voice equipment, namely: 14 Electro-Voice Sx300PIX loudspeakers, CPS 4.10 and CPS 4.5 power amplifiers, an N8000 digital matrix controller and two REV wireless microphone systems.
“The customer was totally satisfied,” said Ronin, “and no wonder. The system proved capable of coping with the long reverberation time in the venue while also providing a very high degree of intelligibility with high sound pressure levels. What’s more, we were able to deliver the entire installation within the stipulated budget!”
