The CI distributor marked its 75th anniversary with a corporate driving day, the AWE Motorsport Sensation at PalmerSport, held at Bedford Autodrome.
More than 40 industry professionals joined AWE Europe to test their driving skills in a variety of high-spec vehicles, including a single-seater Jaguar, the Palmer JP1 Le-Mans prototype, a Caterham 7 Superlight, a BMW M3 GTP, a Land Rover Defender, a Porsche 911 JP3 and a Clio Cup Racer.
Aidan Ball of Breathe Entertainment emerged as the overall winner, after triumphing in five of the seven events, narrowly pipping Rufus Greenway of Sound Environment to the title. Matt Dodd of ThinkingBricks finished in third place.
“What a fabulous event – fun, fun, fun!” exclaimed Greenaway. “ It was a great day with a good bunch of people and an event which was well-organised! It was nice to network within the industry and talk to all the different characters that make this industry fun to be in. Next year I will be back to WIN!!! Second is just not good enough!”
The event – which was sponsored by leading CI brands KEF, Pioneer, Philips Pronto, Denon, Onkyo, Panasonic, DF Solutions and Kinetik Labs – also provided an opportunity for the first showing in Europe of the Panasonic TH-85VX200, the new custom home theatre 85” 3D plasma screen now available to pre-order from AWE.
