Engage Production, the interactive technology for branded environments specialist, has announced that it is distributing DISPLAX’s range of Skin Multitouch products – which is said to be the first large-format, through-glass multitouch system – in the UK, as partner and system integrator.
The DISPLAX Skin Multitouch utilises thinner-than-paper (100 microns) capacitive Multitouch Foil to transform non-conductive materials into multitouch surfaces. Manufactured using polyester with embedded nanowires, enabling a fast (22ms) projective capacitive touch capability, the foil is flexible and tough and operates with LCD, LED or projection systems.

DISPLAX Skin Multitouch enables zero-bezel designs, even on curved surfaces, and can detect up to 12 touch points through glass and other non-metallic substrates such as wood, acrylic, Corian etc. It operates through a maximum of 20mm and a high number of sensing ‘intersections’ provide excellent accuracy and response time.
Skin Multitouch includes plug & play Windows 7 Touch Gesture support, and doesn’t require a proprietary SDK (software development kit). A wide range of sizes is available, from 30 up to 100inches, with a choice of 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.
