The achievements of the custom installation industry’s brightest and best were recognised during the 2011 CEDIA Awards, which took place last Friday (8 April) at One Mayfair in London.
Nearly 200 years old, One Mayfair has recently become one of the capital’s most highly-regarded event spaces, hosting high-profile showcases for London Fashion Week, Robert Plant and Tom Jones, among many others.
SMC took away two awards, for Best Integrated Home £30,000 – £100,000 and Best Multiple Scheme for a Property Developer, while most-nominated company Dawsons Group won in the under £15,000 media room category. Kevin Dawson is pictured receiving the award from CEDIA Region 1 chairman Robert Hallam and executive director Wendy Griffiths. There was also a good showing from integrators outside the UK: Henri Intégrateur Domotique of France won the highly coveted Best Integrated Home over £100,000 award, while Elytronic of Cyprus and MR Domotica of the Netherlands also took trophies.
During a memorable evening presented by actor Trevor Eve – best-known for his roles in long-running British TV dramas Waking the Dead and Shoestring – CEDIA bestowed honours in a host of categories (see below for full list).

The event was a 300 sell out and Trevor Eve proved a fantastic presenter, entertaining the crowd with his witty humour throughout the evening. This year’s winners and finalists have unquestionably raised the standard of excellence in residential custom installation projects across Region 1.”
