Daisy chain up to 100 displays with Gefen

The Daisy Chain Digital Signage System from Gefen can by used to connect up to 100 displays using one Cat5 cable between them. Individual displays can be mounted next to each other or up to 100m apart.

Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen will unveil its Daisy Chain Digital Signage System for large-scale display deployment. Comprised of sender, splitter and receiver units, all three devices work together to deliver 1080p Full HD in the HDMI format.

Up to 100 displays can be connected at the same time using one Cat5 cable between them in a daisy chain concept. Individual displays can be mounted next to each other or up to 100m apart. HDMI along with IR and RS-232 for control is delivered along the same CAT-5 cable.

The Daisy Chain Digital Signage System can be used to create a straight daisy chain of up to 30 displays from one splitter to the next splitter or receiver. It can also be used to enact a tree-like signal distribution. In this case, splitters are used to create ‘branches’. The system supports a maximum of ten branches, or a total of 100 displays.

The source video is sent to the sender, then over a CAT-5 cable to the splitter, which splits the signal to two outputs, one which can connect to a display through a receiver and another which connects to another splitter. Each splitter also provides one HDMI output for a local display connection.
