COMM-TEC S14 Solutions Day hits fifth gear

European pro AV distributor Comm-Tec hosted its fifth S14 Solutions Day at its headquarters in Germany last week. Barco chose the event for the worldwide launch of its new corporate projector ranges.

The fifth annual COMM-TEC S14 Solutions Day featured the worldwide launch of Barco’s latest projector series – a testament to just how far the show has come in five years.

The one-and-a-half-day exhibition welcomed guests to the distributor’s headquarters in Uhingen, Germany, on the 17 September for the launch of Barco’s three new projector ranges Impress, Present and Collaborate, which are designed for the corporate market.

The following day, 38 of the German AV distribution company’s partners, including recently signed brands TVOne and ClearOne, exhibited their wares to more than 260 integrators, consultants and end users. The day kicked off with a keynote from InfoComm International senior vice president Duffy Wilbert, who emphasised the importance of keeping up with industry trends such as the ubiquity of video and the ever-present cloud.

The event, which is backed by industry bodies InfoComm, CEDIA and ISE, has seen year-on-year growth since its inauguration in 2008. Rainer Sprinzl, managing director, COMM-TEC spoke positively about the show’s impact on the industry over the years: “The way in which this show has grown is proven by Barco selecting COMM-TEC as the worldwide launch for its new projector range. This shows huge step for the show in the right direction. And we feel [Barco’s] new focus on corporate collaboration is exactly the trend and direction that we feel is growing.”

“It’s really a pro AV community here and we have every element needed to make this happen, from the workshops and seminars to the exhibition itself and the more leisurely pre-show welcome Get-Together the evening before.”
Workshops ran throughout the day and included TVOne’s CORIO Technology, Digital Signage Solutions and Cloud-based multiroom Audio.

Other partners displaying their products included Samsung, NEC, Panasonic, Sharp and BrighSign.

Sprinzl rounded up the day: “There’s not really anything else out there that offers the complete networking day that we offer. There are other company’s hosting events in Germany at this precise point in time, but that will only cover one topic. Here there is a multitude of technology and discussions taking place that ensures everyone is up to date with what we’re doing and what they are doing. We cover everything necessary in one and a half days.”

“We feel it’s important to showcase new things at the show to keep everyone uptodate, such as our new distribution partnership with ClearOne. The show informs people of what’s happening in the company and industry.”
