CEDIA reveals 2018 training plans

CEDIA has announced a number of changes to its education programme for 2018, aiming to offer integrators more choice and the tools to stay ahead of industry trends.

Technical school
Instead of four days training and one examination day, the technical school now includes five full days of training. Featuring sessions on Project and Business Processes, Basic Wired and Wireless Networking, Smart Home Control and Lighting Systems, and Home Cinema and HD Video Distribution, the course has been boosted by the addition of Rack Building and Wiring Fundamentals. The Certification exam will now be held on an examination day at CEDIA’s training facility on the first Friday of every month. This approach is designed to provide integrators with more time to revise and ensure they are well-prepared ahead of the exam.

Designer school
The Designer school has now been extended to five days, with the addition of the Introduction to CAD Design class. This workshop has been designed to provide integrators with a basic understanding of many of the essential AutoCAD drawing commands and skills necessary to use Computer Aided Design software in business.

Boot camp
CEDIA’s five-day Boot Camp now features a brand-new class — Safe Isolation. This workshop is aimed at integrators looking to gain knowledge and practical understanding of how to safely and correctly isolate electrical systems, as well as how to complete electrical maintenance and repairs of electrical systems.

Other changes to the programme in 2018 include the Home Cinema Design Fundamentals class, which is now only available to book as a two-day course. Attendees can follow this class with a new three-day Advanced Home Cinema course. Lastly, the Health & Safety session will now be run by Certsure, making it a good option for those starting out in both low and extra low voltage electrical work.
