CEDIA partners with THX to offer video calibration course

The course will provide attendees with an in depth education on video calibration, and is scheduled to take place on the 1 February - the day after ISE 2013.

Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) and video calibration specialists THX are teaming up to provide a video calibration course, which is set to take place in Amsterdam the day after ISE 2013, Friday 1 February.
The course is open to all industry professionals who want to learn the art of video calibration and become THX certified calibration experts.
The course will incorporate both THX level 1 and 2; the former level, which is compulsory before undertaking level 2, will be a one-day introductory course designed for those looking to improve their knowledge and join the ranks of professional calibrators. Level 2 is further advanced than the first, and is constructed to provide the industry’s most hands-on training available for calibration professionals.
The two days of intense training will include laboratory instruction, an in-depth look at video calibration techniques and the use of various video calibration techniques and testing with different instruments.
The curriculum covers topics such as; History of TV Technology, Why We Calibrate, Signal Path and Optimization Strategies, Colour Tint and Decoding Colour, amongst many others. After completion of the course, students will benefit by being listed on the THX directory of Certified Professionals, amongst other marketing support materials.
“Keeping up-to-date by undertaking regular education is a great way of remaining competitive within the industry”, said Matt Dodd, CEDIA’s education chair. “This is especially true of the THX Video Calibration course, which results in advanced capabilities enabling students to confidently offer a highly technical service to their clients. A large percentage of the industry will already be in Amsterdam to attend the ISE 2013 show – it couldn’t be more convenient!”
