CEDIA launches education website, business health check

CEDIA has announced a raft of new initiatives at CEDIA Home Technology Event, including a free business health check service for members to be operated in conjunction with Icon Business Solutions.

CEDIA has announced a raft of new initiatives at CEDIA Home Technology Event, including a free business health check service for members to be operated in conjunction with Icon Business Solutions.

The new tie-up provides CEDIA Electronic Systems Professional (ESP) member access to an Icon business consultant, allowing the business owner or management team to have a minimum of two hours, completely free. An Icon consultant will visit the CEDIA member and carry out a detailed business questionnaire. A report is then generated, identifying areas in which the business can be strengthened.

CEDIA’s operations director, Matt Nimmons, commented: “In these challenging economic times, it is important to look strategically at your business, examine its strengths and weaknesses and then take the steps necessary to grow it for the future. But statistics show that whilst 100% of business owners believe they could improve their business in some way, they are unsure who to turn to. Members are encouraged to contact CEDIA to arrange a meeting with Icon’s experienced team of business consultants, who will provide companies with the advice they need do prosper in the future. This is a significant free benefit to CEDIA members.”

In a separate move – and as previously trailed during IE Residential’s recent interview with CEDIA education chair Matt Dodd – the organisation launched a dedicated new Education website (link below). The new online facility features detailed course information, a ‘Pathways’ section on career progression, extensive webinar and podcast content, and CEDIA White Papers and Recommended Practices. Users can also post their CVs and search for industry jobs.

Dodd (pictured) described the new website as “another exciting development for the industry, improving access to CEDIA’s first class education offering. It provides a wide range of interactive resources and information, and allows visitors to keep up to date with education news, events and our new CEDIA technical blog which offers practical hints and tips.”
