CEDIA boosting Expo support for CI sector

CEDIA has launched a 'recession-busting' initiative aimed at CI businesses participating in this year's CEDIA Expo. Intended to help these companies prosper from their involvement with CEDIA Expo 2009, the new package incorporates two main financial incentives.

CEDIA has launched a ‘recession-busting’ initiative aimed at CI businesses participating in this year’s CEDIA Expo. Intended to help these companies prosper from their involvement with CEDIA Expo 2009, the new package incorporates two main financial incentives.

Firstly, all exhibitors will benefit from a 33 percent across-the-board discount on CEDIA Expo stand space at this year’s event. Secondly, visitors can take advantage of a ‘two for the price of one’ training session deal, which is available to all delegates booking slots on the CEDIA Expo educational programme (excluding Certification courses).

In addition, the association is planning a series of major feature attractions and events to take place in and around the show. More details will be announced in the near future.

Expo education programme speakers will include Richard Farleigh from BBC TV show Dragon’s Den and Richard Foggie from the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform, alongside senior representatives from major organisations such as the BBC, Cisco, the Building Research Establishment and the British Interior Design Association.

CEDIA education manager Peter Aylett told II: “In previous years the CEDIA Expo education programme has been the main opportunity for the industry to undertake training and so we have offered an extensive programme to ensure maximum opportunities for everyone to get educated. However, this has now changed thanks to the dedicated training centre at our HQ in St Neots and an increase in training at events outside of Expo, both in the UK and abroad. In response to this we have carefully reviewed this year’s Expo education programme to cover only the core subjects that raise technical standards in the industry and bleeding-edge topics to keep our members up to date. Over 50 percent of the programme is made up of new or heavily revised courses. This focused programme has reduced the number of hours of training on offer to allow delegates more time on the show floor while still benefiting from the CEDIA education offering.”

CEDIA Expo 2009 will take place at ExCeL London from 22-25 June 2009 (training: 22-25 June; exhibition: 23-25 June). Space and sponsorship enquiries should be directed towards Mary Whitlock ([email protected]).
