RGB Communications has added two major projector brands to its UK portfolio. NEC and Canon now take their place alongside Barco in the RGB line-up. In addition, the distributor has recruited Jane Hammersley to beprojection and displays division manager.
RGB’s projection and display offering now covers solutions for large venues and live events (Barco’s DLP high brightness projectors) blue-chip commercial organisations, further education and high-quality meeting rooms (NEC’s DLP projectors) and specialist environments including medical, simulation and visualisation (Canon’s range of LCOS and LCD projectors).
Neil Hartigan, NEC channel manager, commented that RGB – which is now one of only two NEC UK distributors – had “admirable market share figures” for large displays and projectors, and that the company was known for building solutions that end users need.
He added that he would be looking to RGB to help NEC take projector models in three ranges to market: PA (5,000-6,000 lumens), PX (1-chip DLP, 7,000-8,000n lumens) and PH (3-chip DLP, 10,000-11,000 lumens. “We felt that RGB were an obvious choice due to their heritage in this product and market sector. RGB are in a unique position to offer their customers the support which these complex products deserve.”
Garry Pennell, key account manager for Canon UK, said: “The appointment of RGB will bring new dimensions to the way that resellers can buy Canon projectors. The knowledge, understanding and support that RGB demonstrate when assisting resellers to sell high end solutions was fundamental to Canon’s decision to partner with them. Understanding the needs of specialist resellers is key to growing developing channels such as 3D, simulation and visualisation which are target sectors for Canon’s XEED range of LCOS projectors.”
Jane Hammersley’s appointment to RGB marks her return to the industry after a few years out working on software and writing projects. She was formerly UK marketing manager at PolyVision. “There is a real need for distributors to offer fit-for-purpose solutions,” said Hammersley, adding that her team will be looking carefully at the nuances of product features and support packages. “We are now perfectly placed as the go-to supplier for projectors – from the volume end of the market to the high end,” she added.
Caroline Britt, RGB managing director, said: “RGB are back in projection in a huge way. Our portfolio has never been stronger; the new line-up caters for every conceivable application, whilst always providing technical expertise and value for money. We are thrilled that such respected, world-leading brands like Barco, Canon and NEC share our passion and philosophy. With the addition of Jane managing the Projection & Displays Division, I am positive we will continue to go from strength to strength.” www.rgbcomms.co.ukwww.barco.comwww.canon.co.ukwww.nec-display-solutions.com
