The company showcased a selection of new hardware devices and software tools suitable for general AV and security applications. New IP hardware solutions on display included the latest additions to the Exstreamer IP decoding and Barionet IP control and automation product lines, while on the software side Barix unveiled its SIP application toolkit.

Making its public debut at InfoComm, the Exstreamer 120 IP audio coder serves as the end decode/receive link for high-quality audio streaming and control over point-to-point or multi-point IP networks. It can also serve as a versatile solid-state player for various applications, using the new Barix Digital Message Repeater application.

Meanwhile, the Barionet 50 – a low-cost automation controller, monitoring device and visualisation system – received its US debut. The modular Barionet 50 can operate standalone or in conjunction with other devices, web servers and control systems for professional applications including access control, machine data collection and environmental monitoring. Barionet 50 devices offer four logical inputs and four relays for interfacing to contact closures and are said to use very low power.

Barix Barionet IP control devices have been the subject of many recent installs, including Colombo Shopping Mall in Lisbon (pictured), where they were specified for rack systems designed and integrated by Acutron.

Software-wise, Barix unveiled a new firmware application that can be installed on “market-proven, low-cost” Barix IP devices to enable them for SIP applications. The SIP toolkit supports direct SIP calls and registration with IP PBX systems, with the application firmware supporting multiple applications, depending on which hardware it is loaded on, including: IP speaker interface with background music and paging capabilities; SIP paging gateway with zone control and BGM support; IP door station, intercom or emergency help points; and SIP-based security monitoring device for surveillance applications.

Invited to consider the importance of InfoComm, Barix AG CEO and founder Johannes G. Rietschel told IE: “InfoComm is probably the most important general trade show we attend. InfoComm attracts visitors from all over the world and has a broad scope that addresses audio in education, security, worship, digital signage and other AV markets. We also exhibit at InfoComm Asia/China and ISE Europe, but the US InfoComm show is our best opportunity to meet with integrators and customers from around the world. It is also the largest trade show event of the year we attend besides NAB, which is more broadcast-focused.”
