The British Audio-Visual Dealers Association (BADA) recently held two Netcraft training courses at Naim Audio’s offices in Salisbury. Complementing the training offered by Naim on equipment connectivity and networking, the BADA Netcraft course focuses on basic networking skills for hi-fi retailers, enabling candidates to successfully integrate home entertainment equipment into customers’ existing networks.
Recognising that the world of IP addresses and Subnet Masks is a long way removed from traditional hi-fi, BADA decided to create a training course aimed specifically at hi-fi and home cinema sales people. Geoff Meads, formerly of Arcam and now MD of training consultancy Presto AV, was engaged to write and deliver the syllabus, which is presented over the course of one day.
Speaking after the two sold-out sessions last month, BADA chairman Simon Byles commented: “We are very pleased that our partnership with Naim Audio, and their efforts to promote the Netcraft course to retailers, worked so well and gave the very important issue of network connectivity such prominence. Naim is experienced in the manufacture of networked audio products and could see the worth in delivering this course to retailers to help them with any integration issues they may have. Their hard work behind the scenes to help stage the two days is very much appreciated. We look forward to future co-operation with Naim and other manufacturers to further the aims of BADA’s standards-based training.”
Speaking to IE Residential, BADA operations and marketing manager Phil Hansen confirmed that Netcraft will come to Salisbury and Cambridge later this year. “Following the success of the first two courses held at Naim, BADA has agreed another date with the company, to present Netcraft in Salisbury on 2 September,” he said. “BADA will be promoting this to its membership through the regular newsletter and to the wider industry through the news and training sections of the trade media.
