Architainment bolsters technical team

Responding to the increasing technical complexity of installations, together with growth in its business, Architainment Lighting has added two new members to its staff.

UK lighting distributor Architainment Lighting has expanded its technical services department with the addition of two new team members. Jonathan Adkins has been appointed to the role of technical services manager and Ian Davies joins as technical services engineer.

In addition to a growth in business, the company says that it has found that projects are demonstrating a technical complexity that demands greater attention from the technical services team. Expanding the team was imperative in order to continue to fulfil services such as commissioning, programming, specifying and integrating control systems to the high standard on which the company prides itself. In strengthening this area of the company, Architainment says that it is reinforcing its value added side.

Adkins comes to Architainment from Lighting Technology Projects, where he worked in project management and technical services for 12 years, gaining experience in how to oversee large-scale lighting installations. According to the company, his knowledge of the Philips Color Kinetics range of products specifically will lend itself to many of Architainment’s projects involving the technology. In addition to his long period at Lighting Technology Projects, Jonathan was sales manager and technical support at Lighting Technology Group, and a project manager for Strategic Installations.

Davies graduated Derby University in 2007 with a degree in Sound, Light and Live Event Technology, and began working at Lighting Logic as an installation engineer, becoming a project manager within a year of his time there. Ian stayed with Lighting Logic for two years, leaving in September 2010 to begin freelancing at Maidstone Studios in Kent. During this time he was particularly hands-on on the Entertainment side working as an engineer on TV shows such as ITV’s Dancing on Ice and X-Factor and productions for popular British band, Simply Red.

“We’ve been looking for someone with a significant level of experience to lead the technical team, and with his length and breadth of knowledge Jonathan was an ideal candidate for the role,” said Architainment’s managing director, Nic Tolkien. “Ian will also strengthen the team with a fresh approach to technical services and particular experience in entertainment lighting.”
