Demonstrating the increasing crossover between broadcast and professional AV is Adtec Digital, with its mediaHUB-HD 422 multi-codec encoder.

The company says that the mediaHUB-HD 422 supports the most demanding MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC contribution, distribution and studio encoding applications, with the ability to encode any combination of HD and SD, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC with 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 colour space.

The mediaHUB-HD 422’s contribution features include supporting a comprehensive array of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoding profiles, including everything 422. Audio support includes four pairs of SDI and AES audio, plus two pairs of analogue audio inputs.

Audio codec support includes dual Dolby Digital and quad MPEG-1 Layer 2 encoding plus dual channel Dolby E/5.1 pass-through. Ease of use is facilitated, says Adtec, via the intuitive front panel, a browser driven by Adtec’s application server and SNMP.

A free-to-air or BISS 1/E encrypted single channel per carrier (SCPC) DVB compliant MPEG-2 transport stream is output via ASI and GIGE with SMPTE 2022 FEC concurrently.

For distribution applications, the company says that the mediaHUB-HD 422 offers the highest quality MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC digital television sound and video 24-7-365. The mediaHUB-HD 422 supports ATSC, DVB, MPEG and IPTV platforms delivering an MPEG-2 transport stream including broadcast quality MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 AVC video, Dolby and MPEG audio.

Adtec’s DTA-3050 enables multiplexing and DVB-CSA or AES encryption with fully dynamic ATSC and DVB service information. When redundancy is required, the DTA adds 1+1 or n+1 capabilities.
