VITEC acquires Datapath to expand video processing portfolio

Move adds real-time video wall, AVoIP and control room expertise to VITEC’s IPTV and streaming technologies

VITEC, an IPTV and video-streaming specialist, has acquired Datapath, a long-established specialist in real-time video processing for large-scale video walls, AVoIP distribution and KVM control. The company says the deal will strengthen its capabilities in control room and enterprise video applications while broadening its engineering resources and global reach.

VITEC plans to integrate Datapath’s video wall processing, multi-display graphics and AVoIP technology into its IPTV and streaming portfolio. Once the integration is complete, almost half of VITEC’s workforce will be engineers, reflecting what the company describes as an increased focus on technical development.

Nicolas Quesne, deputy CEO, VITEC, said: “Datapath is a highly respected pro AV industry leader, renowned for its engineering excellence, intuitive video wall and control room solutions, and decades of heritage in video hardware and software development. Its portfolio complements our IPTV distribution technologies and opens new opportunities in the control room sector. This move marks an exciting new phase for VITEC as we continue our growth as a company.”

Phil Webster, vice president of R&D, VITEC, added: “Bringing VITEC and Datapath together will allow us to accelerate product development and offer an even broader range of solutions, features and services. We’ve worked hard internally to align systems and strengthen both businesses, and we’re excited to integrate our combined expertise.” Webster previously led the R&D team at Datapath and will now oversee engineering across the VITEC portfolio.

VITEC says Datapath’s product names and categories – including its video wall controllers and processors, AVoIP systems, capture cards and control room solutions – will be retained within the VITEC range. Datapath currently supplies customers in more than 100 countries across markets including pro AV, defence, education, security and healthcare.
