Riedel Group, the signal distribution and live production infrastructure specialist, has acquired Munich-based camera and lighting manufacturer ARRI, with the two companies planning to develop integrated solutions for live entertainment and sports.

Riedel, whose portfolio spans distributed audio and video networks, intercom, and replay solutions, was chosen by ARRI’s owners ahead of other international bidders. Founded in 1917, ARRI has remained in family ownership throughout its history and holds 20 scientific and technical awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Under the new ownership structure, ARRI’s existing management team will continue to lead the company, which will retain independent operations and remain headquartered in Munich.
The two companies say their respective technology portfolios are complementary, with ARRI’s camera, lighting, and systems ecosystem extending Riedel’s existing coverage of the production chain. Joint development work is expected to focus on live entertainment and sports, with the Eurovision Song Contest named as the first collaborative milestone – Riedel serves as technology provider for the event, with NEP overseeing production.
David Bermbach, managing director of ARRI, said: “The Riedel Group brings highly complementary technologies and extensive expertise in live production to this partnership. This strengthens our strategic direction as a trusted technology leader for the next generation of media and entertainment.”
Thomas Riedel, founder and CEO of the Riedel Group, said the acquisition represented the most significant milestone of his career. “I have great respect for this exceptional brand, its outstanding products, and its strong team. I see tremendous potential and am confident that, together, we can position ARRI for long-term stability and future success.”
