80% say videoconferencing is as effective as face-to-face

A survey commissioned by UK distributor Steljes and AVer Information Europe has found that SME end users are likely to be a fertile market for videoconferencing.

New research findings reveal that 80% of those questioned believe that using a videoconferencing system would allow them to effectively meet as if they were in a face-to-face meeting without the need to travel.

The aim of the survey – commissioned by Steljes and AVer Information Europe – was to gain insight into the use and benefits of video conferencing technology in small to medium sized (SME) organisations with up to 500 employees across multiple industry verticals. In order to garner a cross section of opinion, the survey included organisations that do not currently use video conferencing.

“The survey shows that there is strong demand for affordable and easy to use video conferencing solutions from end users who are keen to embrace the benefits that it offers,” said Adrian Kite, UK Sales Manager at Aver Information Europe. “The survey highlights that one of the key barriers to greater adoption is the perception of incompatibility between different video conferencing systems. Our recently launched AVer HVC HD video conferencing systems address these issues.”

The main three reasons for using video conferencing were cited as reducing travel, saving time and reducing costs

Where video conferencing has been adopted, the report found that almost half of those surveyed stated that there are circumstances when they would like to record their video conference sessions

80% of those organisations that do not have video conferencing would use video conferencing if it was available to them

Nearly 40% of respondents would use video conferencing to allow them to meet with external suppliers, partners and customers

“The survey gives an insight into what the drivers are for the video conferencing market and what barriers we need to overcome to accelerate adoption rates,” said Martine Dodwell-Bennett, Sales and Marketing Director at Steljes (pictured). “Interestingly, only 42% of those surveyed have video conferencing in their organisations – bearing out our strategy that the SME market is a major market for us to dominate. We have the solutions that can help them embrace the benefits of video conferencing without the expensive price tag normally associated with this type of technology. All indications are that video conferencing is set to become an essential communications tool for SME organisations.”
