Adam Architecture lined up for CEDIA Home Technology Event

Adam Architecture is one of the headline names confirmed to present at the annual show for the smart home design and installation sector, the CEDIA Home Technology Event.

Adam Architecture, a leading practitioner of traditional architecture and urbanism, is one of the headline names confirmed to present at the annual show for the smart home design and installation sector, the CEDIA Home Technology Event (ExCeL London, exhibition: 28-30 June; training 27-30 June).

David Myres, associate director at ADAM Architecture (pictured) will lead a talk entitled, “The Technology Challenge In Traditional Homes” on the morning of Wednesday 29 June in the event’s Hub Seminar Theatre.

This presentation is one of a series of RIBA-supported free seminars taking place at the show to help architects tackle technology challenges in the design, build and renovation of 21st century homes. The Home Technology Event’s seminar programme content will also provide inspirational ideas, enabling architects to take advantage of the improved living space, lifestyle and energy efficiency benefits that electronic systems can bring to residential projects.

“Whether newly built or refurbished, the traditional interior offers few opportunities to incorporate technology” says Myres. “In older properties – especially those with listed status – it can be especially difficult to give the client what they expect from a 21st century home.” Drawing on his many years’ experience working with system integrators on a variety of high-specification projects, from large country houses to compact London homes, Myres will discuss the common problems and the solutions available.

“The Adam Architecture presentation is a must for architects seeking to integrate technology successfully within traditional homes,” adds Cheryl Carroll, event manager at Upper Street Events, organiser of the show. “Other talks we have planned for the day will feature equally high-profile speakers using case studies to explore real issues and architectural opportunities in home technology design and integration. More details will be announced shortly.”

Across the three days of the show, the Hub Seminar Theatre will also feature content for interior and lighting designers, property developers and contractors. Expert speakers participating include Jim Read from Arup, Sean Cochrane from Cochrane Design, Lucy Martin from John Cullen Lighting, Lee Prince from Light + Design Associates and Dominic Meyrick from Hoare Lea. Places for the free seminars are available on a first come-first served basis.

Organised by Upper Street Events on behalf of the trade association CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association), the Home Technology Event is the only annual trade show and education event in the UK dedicated to the design, installation, integration and concealment of home electronic systems. On show will be technologies used in whole-home audio and TV distribution systems, home cinema, lighting, HVAC and security control, data networks and other electronic sub-systems.

Following the talks, architects will have the opportunity to tour the show floor and familiarise themselves with the key systems and products from more than 170 brands in the industry. They will also benefit from seeing dedicated room set spaces where the latest products are showcased in real-world settings with the emphasis on how the latest technology can be hidden or displayed in an aesthetically pleasing way.
