Legrand bolsters residential portfolio by acquiring NuVo Technologies

Whole-home audio manufacturer NuVo Technologies has been acquired by Legrand, a diversified French manufacturer with a presence in commercial, industrial and residential markets.

Whole-home audio manufacturer NuVo Technologies has been acquired by Legrand, a diversified French manufacturer with a presence in commercial, industrial and residential markets.
Legrand has an extensive portfolio of solutions for managing lighting, heating, energy, networks and access in buildings. It has more than 190,000 products in its catalogues, divided into 78 product families. Existing residential Legrand brands include Vantage lighting controls and OnQ and UStec structured wiring. Last month we reported that Vantage is being actively promoted in the UK for the first time.
NuVo is the latest in a spate of ‘targeted, self-financed acquisitions’ by Legrand, which has also purchased Numeric UPS in India, Aegide in the Netherlands and Daneva in Brazil.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Legrand’s sales reach for home systems while also accelerating its growth in the commercial market.
Legrand, which has a presence in more than 70 countries, posted a turnover of €4.25bn in 2011. The group has a broad strategy of expanding into new business segments: digital infrastructures, energy performance, home systems and wire-mesh cable management. These accounted for over 25% of total sales at the end of September. Hebron, Kentucky-based NuVo is expected to report 2012 revenues of nearly $20 million (€16 million).

We recently reported on a NuVo installation at the Lord Rogers-designed Montevetro apartments in London.
