ISE 2016: Prototype headphone from Tonwelt11 February 2016
Full-service audio company Tonwelt has designed a special headphone which enables users to listen to surrounding sound at the same time as receiving personal audio. Designed to meet the needs of a museum client, Tonwelt’s Philipp Hinz says the “unique” device, shown in prototype at ISE (pictured) will soon go into wider production.
The Berlin-based outfit has been working with the La Cité du Vin de Bordeaux since meeting its tech lead at ISE2015 and subsequently winning a tender to provide audio interpretation systems for a new experience centre.
“We offer interactive solutions which other companies can’t,” said Hinz. “A visitor or group can trigger bespoke audio and video, tailored to their age demographic and their language at multiple points all controlled by our software via our handsets. It’s a complete visitor companion.”
