Crestron and Microsoft have joined forces to develop a powerful new video-enabled collaboration solution for meeting rooms – the Crestron RL.
The new system, which is installed directly into meeting rooms and integrates with corporate LAN, incorporates Microsoft’s online messaging service Lync 2013, meaning the system can provide high-definition, multi-party videoconferencing, as well as powerful collaboration capabilities such as presenting PowerPoint, the ability to share desktops or applications, and an interactive whiteboard suite.
Crestron RL includes a Crestron UC Codec for Lync, HD camera, microphone, 65in touch screen(s), 10in table-top touch screen as well as other components.
The solution also integrates with Microsoft Outlook to simplfy meeting scheduling by allowing participants to join sessions by clicking the system’s touch screen console. In addition, people can remotely participate via Lync, without the need to deploy additional gateways. Creston says adding remote participants to meetings will be just as simple and fast as adding them to a Lync conversation.
"We are pleased that Crestron, a world leader in enterprise automation and management systems, will bring a Lync room system product to market," said Giovanni Mezgec, general manager for Lync Product Marketing at Microsoft. "Crestron’s strong experiences in providing great conference room solutions across the world, combined with Microsoft Lync’s powerful software capabilities, produce a ground-breaking solution that takes collaboration and communication to a new level."
"As a scalable, appliance grade, turnkey solution, Crestron RL can be implemented in practically every conference room across the global enterprise," commented Robin van Meeuwen, VP of Sales and Marketing at Crestron International. "The real joy of this is collaboration and communication, faster and easier than ever before, with anyone whenever you want regardless of location."
