Vast Sony range hits UK stores

A full range of Sony 3D hardware and content has been made available to buy in almost 600 retail outlets around the UK. Following on from the recent announcement regarding Sony and FIFA’s collaboration for 3D filming of World Cup matches, the new developments mark a further stage in the manufacturer’s rollout of 3D technology.

Alongside 3D games and videos, Sony is also making an extensive selection of hardware available to UK shoppers. Designed to make the new technology accessible to all consumers, the product range at launch includes the BDP-S570 Blu-ray player, billed as the first with 3D playback out of the box. Also in store now are the BDP-S470 3D-capable Blu-ray player, the KDL-KX803 (40in and 46in sizes) 3D-capable TV, the BDV-E370 and BDV-E870 3D-capable home cinema systems, and glasses with active shutter technology to deliver full HD 3D.

Looking ahead, further 3D-capable TVs (KDL-HK903, KDL-LX903) and another home cinema system (BDV-E670W) are due for launch next month.

"We’re delighted to be able to bring 3D products and content to the home and believe we are in a unique position to do so," said Andy Benson, Sony UK commercial director. "But this is just the start of the journey. Each Sony company is fully behind 3D; focused on creating great content and, in the very near future, enabling consumers to create their own. For Sony, 3D is a continuation of our efforts to raise the experience of entertainment."
