UK product launches at PLASA Focus – part two7 May 2015
Our first preview of the upcoming PLASA Focus Leeds looked at Martin Audio, Cadac and DiGiCo, among others, here we look at the products on show next week from d&b audiotechnik, Electro-Voice, Dynacord and Roland.
d&b audiotechnik has announced its return to PLASA Focus Leeds for 2015 with three new products and a software update, first launched at Prolight + Sound. These include the D20 amplifier, the MAX2 stage monitor and ArrayProcessing as well as a significant software update within ArrayCalc V8.
ArrayProcessing is a new, optional, feature for optimising the tonal and level balance of d&b J, V and Y-Series line array systems across an entire listening area.
The D20 joins the D80 as part of the four channel, 2RU amplifier family. It features user interfaces and remote control and monitoring via Ethernet, through the OCA protocol.
The MAX2 is a flexible 15in stage monitor, which can be pole mounted on a d&b subwoofer and used as a small, full range system.
Electro-Voice will introduce the EKX series of portable loudspeakers, the newest member of the Electro-Voice portable loudspeaker family, suitable for a wide range of sound reinforcement scenarios, including musicians, DJs, and live/club/installed sound applications.
The new X-Line Advance family of line-array loudspeakers offers a range of new features and advanced audio technologies that work together all in a significantly more compact cabinet.
The EVID Compact Sound speaker series joins the EVID family and provides sound quality and next-generation industrial design. The series includes five interchangeable models offering flexible combinations – two subwoofers, two satellite speakers, and one pendant speaker.
Dynacord will showcase the Xa-2 system enclosures update, which will now be known as the Xa2-PRO system. Already presented at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt, all cabinets will have a new heavy-duty structured lacquer surface and a solid-steel front grille matching the latest Dynacord enclosure design. The front grille caters for increased stability while the structured lacquer surface provides increased protection from dust and dirt and ensures the Xa2-PRO system remains durable.
Roland‘s O.H.R.C.A M-5000 live sound digital mixing console will be at the centre of their offering at PLASA Focus.
The basis of O.H.R.C.A is that the internal architecture is not fixed to any configuration and can therefore be freely defined within a range of up to 128 input or output channels or busses. This allows the operator essentially to ‘build’ a console to suit the application. One primary application might be for the monitor position, where a high number of auxiliary busses are needed. But the M-5000 is also suitable in the FOH position for live music in touring, theatre, broadcast and more.
