Tessera receives new level of LED performance

Installation Staff 12 February 2015

The new generation R2 receiver card for Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED Video Processing platform is claimed to drive LED video performance to new levels.

“Our aim with Tessera is to provide LED processing that is really high performance but can also control almost any LED panel on the market. The challenge with R2 was to design a card which is compatible with existing panel designs, but which isn’t held back by the lowest common denominator,” said technical product manager Richard Leivers.

R2 is based around the SO-DIMM module form factor, which means its almost six times smaller than its previous generation, “so it can fit into even the tightest panel enclosure, ” he added.

“At the same time we have quadrupled the capacity compared with our existing card to 64K pixels. We’ve also added support for our unique new LVDS signalling mode alongside traditional LVCMOS. LVDS has significant advantages and allows higher refresh rates and pixel counts with lower RF emissions.”

Partner programme manager Rob Fowler added that Tessera “has significant advantages over some of the other LED processing in the market, such as 3G-SDI input, scaling, panel rotation and genlocking not to mention the user friendly interface.”
