Tannoy, Lab.gruppen for new Bulgarian club3 September 2010
Night Flight has been equipped with a variety of high-end AV technology, including Tannoy VQ loudspeakers and Lab.gruppen amplifiers. Located in the heart of Sofia, Night Flight opened its doors last December and regularly hosts a wide variety of events, including club nights, live performances, music industry launches and cabaret shows.
Split into two levels with a VIP balcony overlooking the main floor and performance/stage area below, and a total of four bars between the levels, the major new venue is able to accommodate 1,000 people.
The audio spec is led by two Tannoy VQ Series clusters, hung left and right of the 15m stage and 30sqm LED screen. Each comprises two pairs of VQ 60 with additional paired VS 15DR and VQ 64DF enclosures for LF and down-fill respectively. Six VS 218DR dual 18in direct radiating subwoofers installed under the stage-front provide bass extension. Elsewhere, V-Series loudspeakers are to be found throughout the venue, including V300s for balcony delays, V15s for stage side-fill and V12s for monitoring, while Di8 DCs have been installed in the restaurant area.
System control comes from pairs of Tannoy SC1 and TDX-1 processors, while power is provided by a rack of Lab.gruppen C Series amplifiers, including a pair of flagship C 88:4s.
Other equipment specified as part of a decidedly high-end project includes a Digidesign VENUE D-Show SC48 digital console at FOH, a DTS intelligent lighting system controlled by Martin Light Jockey and Zero 88 Jester ML24, and a host of DMX-controlled smoke and snow machines.
The AV installation was handled by Bulgarian technology integrator Bulcomp, which has also undertaken a number of other Tannoy VQ/Lab.gruppen-based fit-outs in the country.
